FPA members snap up 2020 SJA awards
It was a great evening for FPA members at the 2020 SJA awards last night.
Michael Regan of Getty Images won the Football Portfolio category, Michael Steele, also of Getty Images, won Canon Sports Portfolio category and Tom Jenkins of the Guardian won Away from the Action category.
The Ed Lacey trophy for the overall Canon Sports Photographer of the Year 2020 went to our newest FPA member Clive Mason of Getty Images, whilst Harry Murphy of Sportsfile won Young Sports Photographer of the Year.
Other FPA members were busy picking up highly commended awards too- with Molly Darlington and Chloe Knott in the Young Sports Photographer of the Year category, Alex Livesey received awards in both the Football Portfolio & Canon Sports Portfolio categories, Clive Brunskill & David Davies in the Specialist Portfolio category, Bradley Ormesher & Michael Steele in Sports Picture category, Julian Finney in Canon Sports Portfolio category and Marc Aspland in Away from the Action category.
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, placed or won. In what was the strangest and toughest of years to be a professional sports photographer, somehow the standard of photography remains incredible.
Enormous thanks must go to the SJA, Canon UK and Jakki Moores for being custodian and supporter of these prestigious awards, and continuing to recognise the importance of photographers and sports photography.
