Professional Membership
As the Association is predominantly concerned with representing and promoting the interests of professional football photographers, full membership (to be known as a ‘Professional Member’) is open only to professional sports photographers, specifically professional football photographers.

A person shall be eligible to apply for membership if they demonstrate the appropriate high level of professionalism required for acting as a professional sports photographer and being a Member of this Association.

Associate Membership
A person shall be eligible to apply to join the Association as an Associate Member if they:

• Are a student studying photography, sports journalism, or a related course;
• Have previously worked as a professional sports photographer, including that they would have satisfied the criteria to become a Professional Member of the Association; or,
• They demonstrate to the Committee by their application a real, genuine and committed interest in becoming a professional football photographer.

Both classes of membership are open only to individuals resident in the United Kingdom and aged 18 years and older.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that any information, whether in documentary form or otherwise, that they provide in making their application to the Association is true and accurate.

Should it be found by the Committee that the information provided was false or otherwise inaccurate, the Committee shall be entitled to decline their application or expel the member.

It is open to the Committee to seek further information from the applicant such as the Committee may consider necessary to determine the applicant’s suitability for membership.

Such further information may include, but is not limited to, the request for an additional reference or references and/or the provision of appropriate documentation from which compliance with the relevant membership criteria can be determined.

The applicant shall be informed within a reasonable period of time following the receipt of their application whether they have been successful and are to be offered membership or not.

Members will re-apply to renew membership on the 1st of January of each year and annually thereafter. 1st of January, 2022 being the first instance.

All Members shall conduct themselves in an appropriate and professional manner in relation to any activities they undertake which are related to the act of sports photography and any surrounding activities or business practice.

Members may not hold themselves out as representing the Association, including in respect of any decision making or authority, except as expressly authorised by the Committee.

Applications which do not fulfil the criteria will not be considered.
