Q&A with Chloe Knott

Canon, Nikon or Sony?
“Canon”

What came first, sport or photography?
“My passion for photography came first. It started as a hobby whilst at university, shooting theatre productions and portraits. I then tried my hand at sports and haven’t looked back since.”

Do you have a favourite memory or anecdote from your time as a football photographer?
“My favourite memory of working in football would have to be my first time shooting at Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona. Photographing the teams walking out to the roar of 90,000 fans is something I will never forget.”

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
“If I wasn’t a sports photographer then I would probably have continued working within the theatre industry somewhere, as I studied this at university.”

First football match photographed?
“Birmingham City Women v Sunderland AFC Ladies”

Favourite Footballer to work with?
“The best footballer to work with for me has been Bernardo Silva of Manchester City. He was great to work with and gave me plenty of time while shooting a portrait.”

Favourite football ground to work at, and why?
“My favourite football ground to work at would have to be Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. It’s a lovely ground, with great working conditions and positions, plus it’s a stadium that always makes for good pictures.”

Biggest Lesson Learnt in the business?
“Probably how beneficial it is to gain experience shooting a wide range of different types of sports. You don’t know what you might learn shooting one sport which might help you with another.”
